Teen Titans issue 1

Ok lets admit it Sidekicks have never been at the top of our list of favorite characters. So what about an entire team of them?
Teen Titans features some of the more famous (as well as forgot about ) Sidekicks. Its had many different groups of Sidekicks. The TV show featuring, Robin (Dick Grayson) Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Kid Flash.
The original team in the comics consisted of Robin (Dick Grayson), Aqualad, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) and Speedy (Green Arrows Sidekick).
Then they used the team that was featured in the TV show, followed by a couple more different renditions, then another new team running series featuring the main team but with Tim Drake as Robin.

So now we have another new team. Red Robin (Tim Drake's new alias), Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark), Superboy, Kid Flash, and three others I don't recognize but will probably be introduced in later issues.

The cover features the new Titans in there new outfits!
Here are some pictures of the older outfits so I don't have to go through all the changes!

Red Robin

Wonder Girl

Superboy

Kid Flash.

Warning will be posting a total synopsis of Teen Titans issue 1.

We start with a news reporter covering a mansion on fire when Kid Flash shows up to help. Well typical Wally, ends up causing a back draft making the fire worse, but saving the fireman in trouble. Then exhausted he disappears. Tim Drake in a penthouse in New York watches news coverage from all over showing Teenage superheros, in what the news casters are calling a Meta-Teen Epidemic. He then realizes that his penthouse has been infiltrated and fights the men there to capture him (ironically the same man from N.O.W.H.E.R.E. that demanded the release of Superboy was there telling Tim to work for him, who answers by telling the men they should run while they can before the bombs he has set detonate, then jumps of the balcony, taking of a jacket revealing the machine he wears on his back that hold his Red Robin wings, and places his mask on as the building explodes.
Were then taken to California on a Pacific Coast Highway, we see a blond beauty driving a really nice car, really fast who then gets pulled over, as the cop gets out of the car we are given a view into the woods where a female figure all decked in white with a white hood covering her face can be seen. The cop then attacks the blond, not who he appears to be. Then Red Robin shows and saves her, telling her he knows who she is, and that people have begun to call her Wonder Girl, he tries to convince her to come with him to be part of a team.
When a N.O.W.H.E.R.E. chopper shows up, Cassie getting mad at Red Robin calling her Wonder Girl actually transforms into Wonder Girl and takes out the chopper single handed.
Were then taken to the lab where we see the scientist who was raising Superboy and the man demanding to release him.

This is the end of the issue.

So looks like we see Tim Drake taking charge as Red Robin, and trying to bring these chaotic teens into a team to work together. Starting with Wonder Girl. Who's suit resembles that of her original outfit, and that of Donna Troy's outfit. I like the hoodie attachment as well.
RR's outfit is pretty snazzy too, his wings protect him from bullets, but as hes not using them, they take the appearance of a feathered cape!!!
I like to see that hes gone back to a Domino mask instead of the full head cowl as well.

So I will prob keep reading this issue for a few reasons, I am liking RR, Superboy is a favorite of mine so anything hes in I will probably read, and I am curious as to the development of Wonder Girl.

That's it for issue 1 folks, next week marks the release of issue #2 for all the new 52 issues.
Next week:
There is only one that I will be reviewing if I can get my hands on it.
Red Lanterns issue #2.

Superman issue 1

So we had to wait till the end of the month and the last set of issue 1 released but its finally here SUPERMAN!
Who I have to say is no longer wearing his red underwear on the outside of his tights! I am so proud!!

The cover almost makes Superman look evil? Hes holding the globe of the Daily Planet building, engulfed in flames, with red eyes? Why so evil Superman?

Warning will be giving a full plot synopsis of Superman issue 1.

We open with a narrative talking about the Daily Planet as the building gets demolished, and they reveal the new Daily Planet, a very modernized looking building. Even the spinning globe at the top looks shinny and new! Cause it is!!!
We are shown that a very rich man has bought out the Daily Planet and changed somethings.
We also see that Clark/Superman is not too happy about it.
Seen by Jimmy Olsen and another reporter at the seen of the Demolishing of the Daily Planet, Superman does not look happy. He then leaves to patrol the city all the while listening to the speech from the man who bought out the Daily Planet. We also see a flash back of Lois arguing with Clark about why this is good for the paper and he should not be so angry, we also learn that Lois has been given a promotion, she is the Executive Producer of P.G.N's Nightly News Division and Executive Vice President of New Media. Sounds like a fancy title.
Mean while out in the Himalayas, an Alien blows some strange horn and then disappears.
In the Astrodome, some security guards watching the news footage of the unavailing of the new Daily Planet, keep seeing some strange fire appearing and disappearing in the hallways of the building, on their security monitors.
Superman then locates a situation, some thief's have stolen a truck with hazardous and explosive chemical waste.
He chases after the truck and then lifts it after they start shooting at him, fearing a stray bullet will hit the tank and cause an explosion. The people at the Daily Planet hear about the chase and of course even though there celebrating, get on the story.
One of the guardd who saw the flame decide to go looking for it, realizing that he hasn't come back the other guard gos looking for him and gets caught in an explosion.
Meanwhile...
Superman is trying to negotiate with the thief's to arrest them without causing an explosion. He gives them to the count of three to surrender and just as he gets to three it blows up. From the Astrodome a pillar of fire erupts with a being at the top throwing fire missiles everywhere.
Superman does all that he can to try and put out the fire and stop things from catching on fire, but this fire doesn't seem to stop.
While saving people and attacking from the fire at the same time there seems to be no end to this. Finally he picks up the globe from the previous Daily Planet, throws it at the fire creature causing just enough of a diversion to tackle the fire monster and take it out to space where there is no oxygen to fuel the fire.
The fire stopped the new Daily Planet gets its scoop on the action. Clark goes to Lois' apartment to apologize and tell her he loves her, when another man appears in the door way behind her. So he leaves.

This is the end of the issue.
What was the fire creature? Who was the alien blowing the horn at the top of the Himalayas? Is Clark right about the new owner of the Daily Planet being a crook?
What will come in the future for Lois and Clark.

Next up Teen Titans.

Green Lantern: New Guardians issue 1

So good news!!!! My friend who went to get the comics for me yesterday managed to get all three issues that I wanted!!! This is the first time I didn't miss one of the issues that I planned on reading!!! So major props to my friend for getting through the fat guy and finding Green Lantern New Guardians!!!

Anyway, Green Lantern New Guardians issue 1.
The cover features members of each corps. From top to bottom, Kyle Rayner Green Lantern, Bleez Red Lantern, Glomulus Orange Construct, Munk Indigo Tribe, Saint Walker Blue Lantern, Fatality Star Sapphires and Arkillo Sinestro Corps. They are creating a pyramid reaching for a circle of power rings, one from each corps.

Warning will be giving a complete synopsis overview of Green Lantern New Guardians issue 1. If you dont wish to spoil it for yourself I suggest you pick up a copy then come and read the review.

Plot:
We begin on Oa, dead bodies everywhere and a pile of dead guardians, but one raises their hand from the group. The Guardian known as Ganthet rises and swears that the guardians sacrifice will not be in vain, and the last power ring will be given to someone.

New York City
Sector 2814
We see Kyle Rayner in a bar with friends, sketching on a pad of paper a picture for their waitress as a tip since he is broke. Banter goes back and forth between him and his friends when he has to go to the restroom, there is a huge line so he chooses to go out in the alley.
When Ganthet appears and gives Kyle the ring turning him into a Green Lantern. Ganthet instructs him on the use and purpose of his ring, telling him he can create anything he can think of by simply willing it into existence. Kyle gives him a demonstration of understanding, by making a green construct cartoon version of Ganthet himself.

The Xylon Expanse
Sector 422
Present Day
We see a mass of bodies floating around a ship where inside a member of the Sinestro Corps is terrorizing the alien owners.Telling them he wants to hear them scream before they die, and just as he attacks his ring deserts him with the message <Sinestro 117 Decommissioned, Replacement Sentient Locked: Sector 2814> and with the ring gone and the member powerless, the aliens attack and kill him.

The Planet Krod
Sector 1009
A Red Lantern is setting fire to a city, telling them all to burn, Murderers burn! When his ring also deserts him stating <Red Lantern 1009 Decommissioned, Replacement Sentient Locked Sector 2814>. When you become a RL your blood is expelled from your body, replaced by Napalm. Should you loose your ring your body dies. As this RL did.

Sector 22
We see a Star Sapphire protecting what looks like a Space RV from a giant ship, when her ring deserts her as well stating, <Star Sapphire 22 Decommissioned, Replacement Sentient Locked 2814>. As she was in space her protective field now gone she is dying, Fatality appears and encases her in a protective crystal and saves the aliens in the Space RV, stating whoever stole the ring will come to learn why she was once known as Fatality.

Time Square
A man is operating a crane on a building when the building breaks and the crain begins to fall, he is saved a long with the crane by constructs created by Kyle Rayner. Who after saving him, gets harassed by some kid who states that he doesn't look as cool as that other Lantern from Coast City (Hal Jordan). As he argues with this kid the rings that have deserted there owners as well as a couple of the corps we haven't seen, come to kyle all of them stating <Kyle Rayner of Earth you have been chosen>.
Then all at once members of some of the Corps, appear to retrieve the stolen rings, believing Kyle to be the thief. Fatality, Arkillo, Bleez, Munk demand that the rings be returned.

And of course this the end of the issue!!!

So what the hell is going on!!! The rings from all the corps have left there owners and come to Kyle!!!???!!! Now one thing I know about Kyle is he is a special GL. When Paralax first possessed Hal and went on a killing spree, there were no Lanterns, and even the guardians were gone all save for Ganthet, who also had the last power ring the Guardians created, a special powered up version. Kyle was the one chosen and became the Last Green Lantern. After the order was reinstated some how (not really sure about how the guardians and what not come back). He is chosen to be the wielder of the powers of Ion, who is the entity of willpower and the Green Lantern Corp. He was also inducted into the Honor Guard, a special more powerful section of the GL corp. So I know he is special but chosen to wield ALL of the rings of the Corp? whats this going to make him? A Rainbow Lantern? I am curious to see where they are going with this? Not really sure, there have been many a mystery in the GL universe this is just one of many!
So I have to say, for the New 52, they were supposed to be modernizing the costumes. Now John Stewart's costume was the same with a metallic sheen. Guy's has stayed the same and now Kyles has stayed the same!? I mean come on even Fatality is wearing a snazzy modern outfit. Whats up with the GL's guys you can't just give your first a makeover, give them all a make over! Even Sinestro as a GL got one!!!

So were gonna have to wait till the end of next month to figure some of whats going on here, I am sure they won't answer all our questions in the next issue but maybe some insight!

Next up Superman issue 1!

Coming up!

This week only three titles to review, and also it is the last week for issue # 1's October starts the release of issue number 2!! Super exciting.

Green Lantern: New Guardians issue 1.

Superman issue 1.

Teen Titans issue 1.

This week I don't have the capability of fakeing another appointment. So I have a little errand boy who is going to go get my comics for me! I told him he has to be brutal with the guys there and do whatever it takes to get these titles, cause there are no others this week that I can get to replace them!!!!
So wish us luck!!!

Batman and Robin issue 1

So I am not going to lie, and I know that anyone reading this is going to hate me forever. I have never been a huge Batman fan. I am all about actual Superheroes, and while he has made it through some pretty tough situations, I just don't really enjoy his character like I do the Heroes who can smash through buildings and fly of there own accord.
But I picked up issue 1 of Batman and Robin anyway. I decided to give him a shot.
So featured in the new Batman and Robin, we have a new Robin! Damien Wayne. Bruce Wayne's son by way of Thalia Al Ghul, daughter of Ras Al Ghul an enemy of Batman.
We also get to see some of Batman's, worldly counterparts as Batman has gone around the world to instill fear to criminals all over the world instead of just Gotham city, by recruiting others to wear the cape and cowl and symbol of the Bat.

Warning will be giving a full synopsis of story from Batman and Robin issue 1. If you do not wish to spoil it for yourself then I suggest picking up the issue and then coming back to read my review.

Cover features Robin and Batman.

Plot:
We start with a man running in the dark, firing his gun blindly, when the shape of a bat looms over him. He is captured by a man looking  like a steam punk version of Batman. He states "there is no where that the man can run, he is an ally of the Bat and Moscow will no longer suffer under.." The man in his grasp is shot by an invisible gunner, who then attacks the Russian Batman. He demands to know who this person is, the person replies with no one and so are you.
Gotham City, Wayne Manor.
Bruce sits in the dark as a clock bongs in the background he walks up to a head statue of his father and states tonight is the night for a change. He goes and wakes his son and they take a secret entrance to the Batcave, batman explaining why the password to for the clock entrance is 10:48, stating that at 10:48 on a September night that his parents were taken. They suit up and take a tumbler through the sewers of Gotham. Batman explaining the reason to celebrate life, his son, born into the world of assassins, doesn't understand the need to hang on to death.
They stop at the drain grate where his mothers pearls from her necklace fell into the sewer as it broke. He states that hes going to start honoring their wedding anniversary instead of there death from this night forward. He then takes the playbill from the show they saw that night and makes a little boat out of it, and lets it sail away into the dark of the sewers.
Alfred then comes over the com saying there is a situation that needs his attention at Gotham University.
Were taken there where men lay dead in a pool of water over some radiation fuel canisters that the water is keeping cool. The men are wearing specialized suites and draining the canisters.
Batman and Robin make there move attacking the men, some decide to make a break for it, blowing a hole in the pool and taking the sewers they then discover the Gyro Batman and Robin used to get there. The steal it and Robin follows using a grappling hook to attach himself to the Gyro. Once on the ball he rips out the stabilizers and the ball bursts into flames the men seen inside boiling alive as the radiated fuel from there now broken tanks fill the out of control Gyro.
Back at the pool, the radiation canister's are overheating without the water. Batman aims at the ceiling shoots a bomb and a next, water begins pouring from the ceiling filling the pool below cooling down the canisters. There was a swimming pool on the floor above. How convenient.
Batman then tracks down Robin asking what happened with the Gyro? Then chastising him as he let the men die, it was not there place to decide those men should die. He tells Robin he needs to learn to control himself, and that he needs to know he can trust him.
Damien responds with, Dick (Grayson, took over for Batman when he disappeared to the past) trusted him, how long was it going to take for Bruce to? Which Bruce responds, I will let you know.
We then see the Russian Batman hanging on a chain over a pool of acid, the man he captured killed by the mysterious character hanging next to him, lowering into the pool of acid, Then Russian Batman begins to lower, And we see a man in black wearing a strange helmet. and there appears to be a red looking bat symbol on his chest.
This was the end of the issue.

So interesting and very dark first issue. Already the Batmans, that Batman has initiated all over the globe are being attacked by who? Who is the mysterious man who killed the Russian Bat.
I see many problems occurring for Bruce and Damien. A lot of father son bonding to be done, and trust building as well. Damien is obviously very used to not having rules. He kills without a second thought and then is not concerned about it later. While this is something he was taught by the League of Assassin's no doubt, I wonder if it is something that Bruce will ever be able to change?
No noticeable changes to Batman's suite, but Robin now wears a tattered cape, it giving the appearance of feathered wings, instead of the traditional embellished cape for Robin, the cape also appears to have a hood attached. His mask is now green instead of black. And with only a few color changes his costume mostly resembles that of the previous Robin's.

The issue was good and I may decide to keep reading the series, we shall see!

Superboy issue 1

So Superboy has always been a favorite of mine. For multiple reasons, of course one of those reasons just cause hes hot. I mean newer reincarnations especially, he wears just Jeans and a T-Shirt with the S on it! I mean what a hero, doesn't need fancy gear or anything, no cape, just give him a t-shirt and jeans. HOT!!

Anyway I'm gonna stop drooling now.

Warning I will be giving a complete story synopsis of Superboy issue 1. If you do not wish to spoil it for your self then I suggest picking up the issue then coming back and reading my review.

The cover features Supeboy, all trussed up by machines and looking as though he is being built. Which technically in a way he was right?

Plot:
It starts with a boy in a vat, a bunch of nodes and wires attached to him. His narrative states, they call him Superboy, but he doesn't know why, referring to the people "out there" while he lives in a tank and is observed, he states the lab is his home, and somehow he has learned cognitive thinking. And yet he is unsure how he knows the things he knows. He states as they have been studying him, he as been studying them.
Meanwhile two scientist are discussing his vegetative like state and that they will be terminating the project. To which as they begin to initiate termination process he awakens, causing an explosion and killing all but the one woman who was fighting to save his life. As the debris clear, the female scientist sees he is unharmed and flying.

Were then taken a month later, he has been enrolled in school and ends up answering the teachers really tough question. A girl begins to walk home with him after school the two of them discussing things, they walk right past a burning house with someone screaming for help, and thy do nothing about it.
He is then seen at home after dinner, telling his adoptive parents that he has testing in the city and needs to sleep.
It is here that we realized that he is in a VR simulation, none of this is happening.
We see the female scientist who survived. She questions why every time they run this simulation that he ignores the burning building and the woman screaming for help. She states although they don't know who his human half was, the alien genes they used to create the alien/human hybrid loves to save people, she states Superman is obsessed with saving people. Then she questions why the idea of small town and being a new kid? She is curious where these memories came from. It seems that Superboy is creating the VR simulation from his genetic memories. We then see one of the scientists that the female dismissed from the lab sneak off and make a data transmission of what is going on in these facilities owned by a company called N.O.W.H.E.R.E. to Lois Lane. Stating that the world needs to know that they have there own weapon.
A director then shows up and demands of the female scientist that the time has come to release the Superboy. That he has a plan for him.
The last image is Superboy standing in a awesome suit with the shield and the S on it. with the images of the Teen Titans behind him.
End of issue 1.

So this issue 1 of Superboy gives a quick idea of his origins. We know that he was created and cloned. A human half and Kryptonian half.

So we have the company N.O.W.H.E.R.E. who seems to be the ones who have brought Superboy to life. And their director seems to have involvement in some way an form to the Teen Titans?
I guess we will find out more.
For a Superboy issue this one was pretty lax. The only action really taking place when they were trying to terminate him and he fought back.
Hopefully with the next issue titled Prison Break, there will be a lot more. I enjoyed the origin though and will definitely continue reading this title.

Next up Batman and Robin issue 1.

Red Lanterns issue 1

So a little late on this one but was lucky to find a copy of Red Lanterns (and y'all are tying to sell them for 12 buck on ebay!!! I still got mine for 3!!!) hahahaha. Anyway.

For those who don't know there are seven different Corps. The Green Lanterns who wield the power of Will. The Yellow Lanterns/Sinestro Corps, who wield the power of Fear. Blue Lanterns instituted by ex-Guardians Ganthet and Sayd, wield the power of Hope. The Indigo Tribe, wielders of Compassion. The Star Sapphires, who wield the power of Love. Agent Orange, who wields Avarice/Greed. And lastly the Red Lanterns, who wield the power of Rage.
The RL's origin begins with Atrocitus, the killer of the Lantern who transferred his ring to the first Human GL, Abin Sur. Atrocitus comes from the planet Ryut, a planet now entierly devoid of life after the wipout of sector 666, from the Guardians first attempt to police the galaxy, the Manhunters. From that point forward the only survivor promised revenge on the Guardians, more specifically the one who caused the malfunction in the Manhunters, Krona.
Atrocitus created the Red Lanterns when the Guardians authorized the other powers of the Emotional Spectrum to be wielded.
Once you have been selected for service in the Red Lantern Corp, your body is purged of all its normal blood, and replaced with a fire burning Napalm like blood instead that all the lanterns are constantly spewing from there mouths. You are also replaced with an unfathomable, insatiable and unlimited amount of Rage, turning your very vision red.
Ironically all the beings chosen for the RL Corps are scary looking monsters, with the exception of Dax Starr, a cat from earth chosen to wield the ring and is a pet to Atrocitus. He looks scary but cute at the same time.

Warning will be giving complete story overview of Red Lanterns issue 1, if you do not wish to spoil it for yourselves then get the issue, then come back and read my review!!!

The cover of Red Lanterns features Atrocitus, front and center, Bleez and Dax Starr and others. As well as their entity in the background.

Plot: We begin where Atrocitus left off after the War of the Green Lanterns, angry that the death of Krona happened by another hand.

Space Sector 666
On a ship of blue lizard looking aliens, torturing another alien for their amusement. They witness a cat floating in space (Dax Starr). They let it in, hoping to torture it and shave off its fur. When he attacks the aliens, with napalm blood and his vicious claws. The aliens jump Dax Starr at the same time attracting someone elses' attention. Atrocitus appears inquiring what they are doing to his cat. He then takes them all out.

We then are taken to a scene on earth, an old man being harassed by a thug. He puts up a fight but in the end the thug beats the man to death with a brick.

Space Sector 666 Ysmault (the prison planet that Atrocitus was kept on building his Rage)
He witnesses his Red Lanterns fighting amongst each other, needing an outlet for there blind less rage. Which they are so overflowing with, they cannot put sentences together Bleez stating when he asks them to stop fighting, "Fighting? Lanterns...Rage, We...GGNNN...Napalm Hearts...Can't...Stop..Gnnnn Think?" To which he states there not supposed to think just obey his orders. The lanterns all stalk off laughing.
Atrocitus walks to a secluded place, a place where he keeps Krona's body. And reminiscing how his revenge was stolen from him by Hal Jordan. He then uses some local fruit that hold blood to see a vision to show him what should fuel his Rage now that Krona was dead? The vision he sees is first of his family's destruction at the hand of the Manhunters.
We are then taken to a hospital on earth, a man walks in the room saying Grandad? A man already in the room responds that he has died. These two talk about how their Grandfather took care of them after there parents died. The two are brothers, one brother is very angry at the death of his grandfather the other boy, obviously an introvert as he focuses primarily on school and nothing else, stating he was late to get to his grandad because of an important thesis he had to turn in. This angers the other brother, causing him to punch the other, as the one who threw the punch walks off, were left with a scene of the other brother on the ground with a look of intense rage across his face. Atrocitus has seen this vision after his vision of his family. He then punches through Krona's chest, noticing a Guardian long dead still bleeds. And demands a vision telling him what he is to do. He sees visions of suffering and injustices, ones that must be brought to justice by means of vengeance and blood. But as he sees this, he realizes this is the purpose of his Corps, and then with the acting out of Bleez earlier he wonders if his Lanterns will obey and need him as their leader?

This is the end of issue 1.

So the Red Lanterns are an interesting character. They fight very violently, and cause much bloodshed and death. And yet they don't kill just anyone? They kill only those who have done extreme injustices to others. This would give them more of an Anti-Hero status as they do the one thing so easily that most heroes try never to do, kill.
Atrocitus himself is an interesting character, through a narrative during his vision of his planet being attacked by the Manhunters, he states that he wanted to be a therapist, he wanted to help people. He wasn't always a bad person.
And now he has nothing but Rage, and yet he uses it against criminals. But he kills with no thought of regret.
As he has dealt with Rage for such a long period of time he seems to be the only one who is not blinded by it.
But its interesting.
There have been rumors that there will actually be a human Red Lantern in issues to come, my theory just by the brothers that were shown, the one who was punched, John, will become the human Red Lantern.

Well we have to wait and see what the next issue brings.

Next up Superboy issue 1

Green Lantern issue 1

So yay!!! I got lucky an managed to get a copy of Green Lantern issue 1 that I had missed a couple of weeks ago!
So here we go! For those who don't know, this issue picks up right after the War of the Green Lanterns series. Krona, a Guardian castaway because he wished to know the origins of the universe, had captured all of the Corp's entities. And then used them to control the powers they wield. He also managed to control Mogo and cause rings to be sent to just anyone in the universe, and at the same time controlling the wielders causing a Green Lantern War. The end result, Hal Jordan overpowered Krona and killed him. This in turn scared the Guardian's as they set in place a safeguard that the rings cannot harm guardians, and Hal managed to kill one. For this they discharged him from the Corps, while Sinestro, who for showing strength without the power of his ring to aid Hal, was chosen by a Green Lantern ring once more, causing much outrage amongst the Corps as Sinestro has been considered an enemy of the Corps for a while now.
Warning I will be doing a complete story review of Green Lantern issue 1, if you don't want to spoil it for yourself, I suggest you get a copy read it then check out my review!!!

As you can see, Sinestro is now featured on the cover of issue 1 Green Lantern, as a Green Lantern.

PLOT:
We open with Sinestro reciting the oath of the GL, while in shackles from the Guardians. Despite the fact he does not want to be a GL, the Guardians say this is his chance at redemption (one he feels he doesn't need), and they tell him to protect his sector. After taking his power battery and leaving, Ganthet (known suporter of emotion and the Human GL's) announces his rejection of Sinestro who should not be allowed the honor of wearing the ring, to which the other Guardian's surround him and focus mental energy on his mind.
We are then taken to Hal Jordan, in his apartment being pestered for three months rent from his landlord, when he hears a shout for help. Looking out his window in the apartment across the way he sees a man attacking a woman. Jordan leaps from his balcony through the window and starts attacking the guy, not seeing the cameras and movie crew behind them filming.
We then see him in jail, Carol Ferris has bailed him out, they talk about his discharge from the Corps, and that Sinestro was chosen once more by the ring. Carol tells him he needs to start enjoying his new life without the Corps, and being a space cop. To which he asks her out to dinner.
Were then taken to Korugar, Sinestro's home planet, over run by members of his very own Sinsestro Corps, torturing his people. He him self though in space gets attacked by a member of the Sinestro Corps, who tries to report to Arkillo, that Sinestro is a GL once more, but Sinestro kills him, and destroys his ring before it can find a replacement.
At dinner with Hal and Carol, Hal states he has a question for her, asking to co-sign on a car loan. This angers Carol and she leaves. He walks back to his apartment to see an eviction notice on the door when Sinestro appears in front of him. Stating that if he wants his ring back he will do everything Sinestro says.

This is the end of the issue. I am curious to see where this is all headed? Is Hal done with the Corps forever? Or will Sinsestro allow him to get his ring back? What did the Guardians do to Ganthet? Will Sinestro continue to be a GL or will he return to his Sinestro Corps an the power of Fear?
We see some small changes, the emblem of the GL protrudes off the chest now more like a badge, the green of the suite has a metallic sheen to it, giving it the look of armor instead of tights.
And lastly, Carol Farris also known as Star Sapphire should be on Zamaron, as during the events of Brightest Day, she was named Queen. She does state that she has not wore the ring since she has been home?
Curious to see where the GL's are headed next. Could it be possible the very Guardians themselves will be enemies, they obviously are not thinking very clearly if they have let Sinestro, who has murdered many a GL become a GL once more?

Next up Red Lanterns issue 1.

Batgirl issue 1 the New 52

So I don't know if you can tell by now but I have a liking for female heroes. I don't know what it is but there is something really exciting about seeing a female kicking some ass. With males, its expected, they go to a bar and get drunk and have to fight. Girls aren't the same way, but when you have females that fight it ends up being pretty fierce!
Batgirl is also one of my favorite female super heroes. She is spurned on by a need for justice, shes not on a trip of vengeance like Batman, she didn't loose someone that made her wish to become a costumed vigilante, she just wanted to help bring justice!
The daughter of Police Commissioner Gordon, Barbra Gordon has gone through a lot. Her role as Batgirl was take from her when the Joker appeared at her door and shot her, the bullet passing straight through her spine causing the lower half of her body to be paralyzed. Now in a wheel chair she can no longer run the rooftops as Batgirl. She is a great computer hacker and becomes kinda a home base information specialist and computer hacker for the Justice League and more specifically created the Bird of Prey, an all female group. She took on the the secret identity of Oracle.
So now it appears that Batgirl has recovered from her paralysis and can once again run the rooftops of Gotham City.
Warning I will be doing a complete synopsis of Batgirl issue #1, if you don't want the story spoiled for you I suggest that you go pick up the copy and read issue, the come back and check out my review!
The cover of Batgirl issue 1, featuring Batgirl in her costume. While the style hasn't really changed they have modernized it by giving it an armored look, and the color of the inside of her cape is purple instead of its usual yellow.
Plot:
We start of with a mansion, a man seen watering his plants, while a hand of unknown belonging holds a list of names with one crossed off .
The man watering his lawn is approached by this person (the hand). The person tells him that he survived the sinking of a transport ship off of the coast of Portugal during routine maneuvers in calm conditions, and twenty seven of his fellow sailors did not. The man asks who they are, and the person flourishes their cape stating I am the Mirror, who then grabs the hose out of the mans hands and grabs the back of his head and basically drowns the man.
We are then shown as he crosses another name off the list, that Barbara Gordon is on the bottom of that list.
we are then taken to Gotham. Batgirl narrates that she must remember she is not Barbra Gordon, while she looks on to a situation she wishes to stop. Stating she looked over private police files when her father wasn't looking and found the criminals in the file, she grapples off the roof and states in a narrative pride, I am Batgirl!
We are then taken into an apartment, a man and woman are being held at gunpoint by a couple people wearing Halloween masks. These people are murderers and even take the time to show them there "scrapbook" of previous endeavors. While one looks out the window as there terrorizing the couple, he states its going to rain an forgot his jacket. He turns back to his friends not seeing the bat silhouette now approaching the window. Batgirl smashes through, taking out a couple of the men, getting down to the last one holding the gun to the couple. Batgirl decides to take a chance and distract him by mocking him, and then throws a batarang at his gun hand making a direct hit. The man gets upset and tackles Batgirl taking them off the balcony. Batgirl regains the upper hand grabbing him and the railing before he falls then handcuffs the man to the balcony, with a couple of batarangs in his hands to keep him still, warning him not to take them out till the police and the medics show up. She then takes off.
We are then given a short re accounting of the assault of Joker that paralyzed her, and we see it was actually Barbara having a nightmare. She goes down stairs and meets with her father who says she doesn't have to go, she can continue living with him. She states its something she has to do.
She goes to an apartment meets her new roommate and starts moving her stuff in, and we learn her roommate is an activist.
W are then taken to the hospital, where the man from the attempted murder the night previous rests, with cops watching.
Were taken to the front desk where the same cloaked man from the beginning appears and starts attacking people through out the hospital.
Barbara gets a text, saying that she secretly routed her dads text alerts the her phone and she tells her roommate she has to go, revealing her motorcycle.
We are shown Batgirl racing to the scene.
The two cops watching the man are watching the door, guns in hand as the cloaked man has been shooting people. He shoots through the door hitting both cops and comes through the door showing the man in the hospital bed his fears, stating the man should have fallen, he is on the list.
Batgirl busts in on her bike and tells him hes not getting away.
The cloaked man turns and points the gun right where Batgirl was shot, that caused her to be paralyzed. This caused her to freeze, giving the man in the cloak time to push the man in the hospital bed out the window and turns and points the gun back at Batgirl, who is now being called a murder by the female cop still alive, who states that she let the man push him out the window and Batgirl did nothing.
And that is the end of issue one!

So I am interested to see more. The Mirror (a villain I am not familiar with) is obviously on some "godsend" mission taking out people who survived where he feels they shouldn't have. But it was interesting that one Barbara Gordon, was on his list and two that he pointed the gun directly at the spot she was shot previously by the Joker!
I have noticed that the Batman originated comics are trying to keep to more the classic style of comics, with a more modern look, which I think is great!
I enjoyed this title, even though it wasn't one the original titles that I was planning on reviewing it was good an I will probably continue on to read more of Batgirl.
I suggest picking one up!

Well I am caught up on my reviews for now, gotta wait for next weeks to come out and then hopefully the second prints from last week will come out soon so I can review those.

Catwoman issue 1 the New 52

Catwoman has always been a favored character of mine from the Batman universe. I have always loved a strong, I will kick your ass female character, and Catwoman takes that to the next level. She is continuously hopping the fence of being a girl girl and a bad girl. And pulls off both at the same time. Shes a notorious robber and thief and yet a protector as well. She has also been an ongoing Lust interest for Batman.

While I was hoping for a new outfit with the New 52 revamp, they have decided to keep an outfit they have been using for her for a while now.
Which is basically this outfit here. While there have been a few different renditions of this outfit, they have stuck with this design for a while now.

I have to say just as a personal note that this is one of my favorite of the Catwoman outfits created thus far. I know a lot of Catwoman fans hated this movie. Mostly because it was not Selena Kyle. But I absolutely loved the idea of having multiple Catwomen. And Patience Phillips was the perfect rendition of the duality of the character that Catwoman has always portrayed. And this outfit was just smoking hot!
Anyway onto the review!
Warning I will be giving a complete overview of the story featured in Catwoman issue 1, if you don't want to spoil it for yourself I suggest you stop reading now and pick up the issue, and then come back and check out my review!

Plot:
We start off with a half naked Selena Kyle throwing on a leather outfit really quickly, so quickly it seems she is demolishing her apartment. Also shown throwing all her kitties into one cat carrier, maybe the appropriate word is stuffing, there seem to be quite a few. Followed by her front door cracking the busting open as men in skull masks with guns come through, just as she is jumping out the window, half dressed and holding on to her cat carrier, she uses her whip to swing from the rooftops. She gets a few roof tops away a narrative explaining she had no idea who they were, probably someone she pissed off or stole from orr both. Thinking its clear she turns around to see when they leave, thinking if she stays gone for a few days she can circle back, not wanting to lose this apartment like she did her last one. As she turns to check on the apartment it goes up in flames. She ends up at a friends/informants house who tells her about an empty penthouse that she can stay in for a few weeks, followed by information on a Russian Clan/Mob that she could possibly make some money off of. She goes incognito as a bartender for a party the Russian Clan was holding, to see if she can over hear anything worth while. Almost giving up she finally over hears of a panting that was stolen from the Clan, worthless and more importantly priceless to anyone else but extremely valuable to the clan. She decides that's the ticket to making some money and starts to leave when she sees a man she recognizes, who she says is supposed to be locked up, she has a flash back of this man beating a young girl and the shooting her in the head, killing her. While a young Selena Kyle watched. Angry hes free, she follows him to the bathroom, unbuttoning her blouse tricking him into thinking she wants to do things with him, just at that moment she pounces and attacks him, more than likely she killed the man. While outside the Russians have discovered the bartender she drugged and hid in a closet, slipping back into her Catwoman costume she flees, taking out a few of the suppressed Russians as she does so.
She heads back to her loft, where Batman is actually waiting for her, he says he heard about her place getting torched and wanted to know if she is ok, where she responds by kissing him fiercely. She narrates their passion for one another while pieces of costumes are taken off, while she states, she is sure he has no idea she is Selena Kyle, she has no idea who he is and doesn't care.

And were left with that steamy scene.

Here is the cover of the first issue. As you can see they have no problem showing the sultry sexuality of Catwoman, as she pours a small bag of diamonds over her body.

Once again loving everything Catwoman is, she is steamy, sultry, fierce and powerful. That makes for a really sexy character, which is something Catwoman has always been sold on is sex.
I am curious to see as this is my first time reading a Catwoman issue where this will lead? Obviously as she is considered a villain herself she wont be running into villain's, but as she steals from gangsters and what not I am pretty sure she has quite a few enemies. So it will be interesting to see what happens to her.
A trend I have noticed is that the two people shown who care about Catwoman, Batman and her Informant, seem to be concerned for her, both have asked if she is ok? Is something wrong with Catwoman? Is she acting or are things happening to her that are out of the norm? I guess these are things that we will find out.
I love the artistry in this comic book as well, a different style that I am used to and yet still follows what I would consider the classic comic book style.
If your an avid Catwoman fan, pick this up! I happened to get lucky when I went to get my comics I actually got the last issue of Catwoman on the shelf. Still a little bitter that I was one of the first people in line and I missed Supergirl!

Oh well, so I have one more issue to cover, and its actually from last weeks, but I will be covering tomorrow, Batgirl!

Nightwing issue 1 the New 52

I have to say, growing up with Batman, the one with Adam West. And then again the Animated Series from the early 90's. Its hard for me to see Dick Grayson all grown up and out on his own, and hot! It does make sense for him to grow up eventually, and as he an Batman had there altercations, it makes sense he would want to fly the nest and do his own thing. And for those who know most of his adult life he has done exactly that. He became Nightwing.
For those who don't know what the grown up Boy Wonder looks like, this was the costume design before the New 52 revamp. Which for me always brought up alot of questions, with no utility belt where oh where did that boy hide all his gadgets?

So Nightwing has once again received a Solo title, dubbed as such, Nightwing. So here is my review of Nightwing issue 1 of the New 52.
Warning will be doing a full review of the storyline for Nightwing. If you do not want to spoil it for yourself, I suggest you pick up the copy, read it then come back and check my review!!!

The cover brilliantly features our now Man Wonder, Nightwing. As you can see they have upgraded his suite and changed his color scheme a little. Where as the old outfit comprised seemingly of a really dark blue color and a light blue color, this new outfit, features him in black with the red bird symbol. Which personally I think fits better as red was one of his main colors as Robin.

Plot:
Nightwings begins with our hero, on the rooftops of Gotham City. As he begins to go from rooftop to rooftop, he narrates his most recent escapades. After the "death" (disappearance) of Batman, all of his previous now grown up boy wonders, Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake, decided the world cannot be without Batman. So they all duked it out and Dick ended up being the victor, and taking Batmans place for a while, with Bruce Wayne's son Damian Wayne as Robin.
So in Nightwing, as our hero narrates he tells us how as Batman, Gotham threw its worst at him and he came out stronger in the end. Eventually his travels leading him to a monorail where a psycopath is killing passengers. Nightwing swoops in saying nothing can scare him anymore and takes out the thug. As he travels through the city afterward, he comes across a circus tent, informing us that this was the same circus that he and his parents used to travel with. And how he has visited them in other cities and states, but never in Gotham after the death of his parents. And yet he thinks him self strong enough to fight the fear of going there.
We are then taken to a scene of a bus dropping off passengers. A man walking of the bus, wearing shades at night gets stopped by some thugs demanding toll for passing though there sidewalk. They begin to attack and the man fights back, with trained assassin like abilities. Once there all down, the man calmly walks away stating how he likes Gotham.
Back to Dick Grayson in his loft its now morning and he talks of the differences between Batman and himself. And ends up at the circus.
Meeting up with old friends from the past, and seemingly an old girlfriend from the past and her new boyfriend. They invite him for a swing through the tent top like in the old days. He gets up there and they are amazed at the talent for it he has retained (none of them knowing he was once the boy wonder, or now Nightwing). So realizing he is supposed to be "out of touch" with his skills he fakes a fall into the net. After hanging around and catching up with his friends he heads back for the night. When he is attacked by an unknown character wearing all black and a specialized mask. He also wields two claws at the end of his hands. Some cops intervene giving Dick the chance to change into Nightwing, then the two begin to trade blows. The mysterious man informs Nightwing he doesn't know who hes protecting, saying Dick Grayson is the fiercest killer in all of Gotham and doesn't even know it. Obviously Nightwing being Dick, is very confused from this statement. There fight backs up to a water tower on a rooftop and the assassin blows a whole in it, causing a fount of water to burst forth and hit Nightwing, sending him crashing down to the street below with the assassin not far behind.

This is where the comic closes.

I love the art in this comic book, a lot of artist these days are following in suite with comics such as Witchblade and Fathom as far as style. This issue still has a certain classic comic style to it.
I think this issue did a good job of setting the fans up with where Dick is currently at in his life, and the type of character he has become.
I love the new outfit, but again curious, as he is seen using grappling hooks to traverse the rooftops, with no utility belt where does he keep his gadgets?
If you are a Boy Wonder grown into man Nightwing fan. Than I suggest you check out this issue from the new 52. I have always been a fan of Nightwing, but that's only because I had the hots for him, haven't really taken the time to read about him much. But I find his character interesting, and I myself will be reading more!

Next up Catwoman!

Wonder Woman issue 1 the New 52

Just slightly sad with this issue release, the Justice League issue 1 Wonder Woman, looking way more effeminate than this new issue of Wonder Woman's solo title. But it still fits, she still has the amazonian warrior feel too her that she will mess you up in a heart beat if you mess with her!
Warning I will be giving a complete synopsis over view of the issue number 1 Wonder Woman, should you not want to spoil it for yourself, DON'T read a head, read the issue then come back and read my review!

The cover features WW, in an outfit more closely resembling that of the original WW outfit. We see that the Tiara, Bracelets, winged W on the chest, and the belt have been traded in for Silver instead of Gold, and we see an added metallic, neck choker and arm band. The Boots and briefs of the outfit seem to be closer to black than the original navy blue, with the briefs still featuring the white stars.

The comic starts off in Singapore, we have the God Apollo, entertaining three beautiful women. He is telling them about his father who gets around, and has gone missing. He then walks up behind them and puts them in a some sort of trance.
The comic then shifts to a barn in Virginia, where a Woman cloaked in Peacock feathers appears from no where ( I assume this woman just happens to be Hera, queen of the God's who's symbol is the peacock. She lays some weapons on the floor, a mace, a sword, a bow and arrows. Takes a Scythe off of the wall and chops the head off from both horses in the barn, from the spot where the heads were cut off, hands and heads begin to grow from the bleeding insides of the head. We are then taken inside the house where a man wearing a head protector, with blue skin and beady little eyes, tells a the woman they must go. To woman obviously not expecting visitors is wearing a open button down flannel white t shirt and pink panties holding a shot gun to the man. Who states they have come for her and her child. She screams for him to leave, to which he responds you will die here! He then pushes her away from the front door, getting knocked back by an arrow, also revealing he has bird like fee with wings off of the ankles (I'm guessing Hermes, messenger god) and gets stuck to the wall. Two Centaurs holding the weapons (Hera) left on the ground of the barn come crashing through the door. Just as the male centaur raises his sword for the killing blow to the woman, (Hermes) shouts Zola! and throws a key to her, in which after catching it a bright light appears and she vanishes just as the sword strikes the place she sat in fear.
She reappears in London in the room of a naked raven haired woman lying in bed, when she goes to reach to wake her up the woman grabs her by the throat demanding to know who she is, Zola tells the woman there were things, and a man with eyes he was in her home, to which the woman interrupts, how did you get here? She holds out the key saying the man threw it to her. To raven haired woman obviously recognizes that, and request Zola give it to her, still frightened she says no. The raven haired woman asks her name to which she responds Zola, and the introduction is returned by announcing her name is Dianna. Who then walks over to a wardrobe on the other side of the room. To which Dianna says she could take the key by force but would prefer if it was given willingly.
Upon opening the cabinet we see a sword, part of a star spangled shield, an ax, a helmet with a red star in the middle and a tiara with a red star in the middle, and Dianna starts to dress. (I guess gone are the days of the spinning transformation).
Zola seeing her fully dress realizes she has in the presence of Wonder Woman, who again asks for the key. Upon receiving it they are taken back to Zola's home, and battle begins with Wonder Woman and the centaurs.
During the battle the are text boxes with a prophecy, it appears Apollo has made the three women his oracles.
"You want us, to tell you, what we see?" The oracles
"Dear ladies you are my oracles, my eyes that gaze on what is yet to be seen, please, tell me what you see" Apollo.
" There is a storm gathering just beyond the horizon, and the one responsible shall rule in fire."
"Sorry about that." The oracles.
"Who is it?" Apollo.
"Too much smoke" Oracles.
" What?" Apollo.
"We cant see clearly, it wears a crown of horns, and a cape of blood flowing from its shoulders, onto a naked woman at its feet." Oracles.
" The Feet?" Apollo.
" There bare, like the woman." Oracles.
" Then it is my family." Apollo.
" Your family...is broken, beaten and betrayed by blood." Oracles
" Tell me something I don't know." Apollo.
" Well your father has abandoned fate, to someone who can blow away the smoke, if they choose too."
" Seriously this is mental." Oracles.
" What do you mean by that?" Apollo.
" We mean that what your father wants is nothing anyone should, its dirty its irredeemable, and it won't end good for you." Oracles
This is the entire prophecy up through this point.
Wonder Woman has beaten the centaurs and saved Zola. Hermes walks free of the house telling her to protect Zola, of the queen will see her dead. Zola's life is important. To which Zola responds that Hermes is wrong, he said to protect her and her child, well she doesn't have one!. To which Hermes responds that she is pregnant by Zeus.
We are then taken back to the rooftop in Singapore, with Apollo and his three oracles. The prophecy continues.
"He will kill, one of you." Oracles.
" One of me?" Apollo.
" Yeah one of your fathers children will murder another and take their place, its what your father wants, that's so screwed up." Oracles.
" That's dear old dad, pulling the strings, the curtains, legs. Where is he?" Apollo
" He doesn't exist yet." The Oracles.
At that moment Apollo begins to light up and the three women catch a blaze, they burn to bones and fall to the ground below, as Apollo rises to the sky in a bright light.

So here we have an interesting tale right off the bat! Hera seems to be stirring the pot, Apollo is fear full of what is father is up to, Zola is pregnant with a child of Zeus. While Dianna seems to just get thrown into this unknowing anything is going on.
So I'm curious to see where this one will lead. Greek and Roman mythology has always been a favorite of mine, so its surprising to me I never got into Wonder Woman a whole lot more. But it sounds dead on, tragedy, murder and intrigue, something the Greeks were good at!
If you enjoy some bloody tough ass woman kicking butt action, then pick up Wonder Woman.

Lets talk a little about the costume used in the issue. It would seem there were two covers for this book.

While the actual book showed WW wearing her star spangled briefs, this one features her in her pants outfit for the new re-model. Personally I would have gone with this. I think as we head into a modern age for Super Heroes, the uniforms need to match. Gone are the days of spandex and wearing briefs, and underwear on the outside of your tights. The pants give WW a more modern kick ass look, and I wish they would have followed through with this in the comic as well, as in the comic she was also wearing the briefs.
Now while I understand that showing some leg is sexy, this day in age so is leaving somethings to the imagination. And it just makes her appear more of a bad ass to be wearing leather pants.
So while the costume choice didn't work for me in this supposed revamping of the DC characters, the story has peaked my interest from the beginning and I will defiantly be buying the upcoming issues of Wonder Woman.

Next up Nightwing!

Green Lantern Corps issue 1 the New 52

So still new to this whole DC Comics thing. But really really enjoying it. So much easier to start for some comics in the middle and pick up whats going on in the story. Something I have had problems with in the past with Marvel.
Luckily we don't have that issue with the New 52, they are all starting with issue 1! New stories old characters so you don't have to be lost.
Warning will be going over synopsis of storyline for entire issue, if you do not want it spoiled I suggest waiting till you read the issue.
Green Lantern Corps
Here is our cover featuring some noticeable favored Lanterns of the Corp: From bottom to top Arisa, Guy Gardener, John Stewart, Killowog, Soranik Natu, Stel, and lastly Hannu.

The comic starts off in Sector 3599 in a GL sector house, the two Lanterns of this sector have someone imprisoned who is yelling obscenities and threats while they go about there processing duties of the weapons confiscated and the criminal himself. They turn there back on him and then see he finally goes silent. They turn to thank him and find his body has been cut in two blood every where. As they take fighting stances and ask there ring to locate the intruder, one of the GL's looses a head. The others ring locates a target and just as she is about to fire on the unseen intruder, he grabs her ring hand, cuts her in half like the prisoner, then cuts off the finger that holds her ring, causing both Lanterns rings to leave there hosts to find new replacements for this sector. Nothing of this enemy can be seen save for his hand and his eyes which are also ironically cast in a metallic green color.
From this opening scene we are taken to Guy Gardner watching a planetarium presentation on earth, when his ring alerts him of an interview he is late for. We then see him surrounded in a waiting room, probably by other men interviewing for what ever position hes there for. All these men pestering him as he is a known Green Lantern, asking him questions about aliens, and his sector and to power up his ring. When he is finally called in for the interview. It would seem he is applying for a Coaching position for a High School Football team. The woman interviewing him makes it blatantly clear that as he is a Green Lantern, he has duties that would come before the children, not to mention being a GL, he could be a target of an attack putting the students in danger. Obviously he didn't get the job.
We are then taken to one of earths other known GL's, John Stewart, as we know he is an architect. He is currently meeting with contractors discussing new safety features he would like to install on the building currently being worked. The contractors arguing as to why when they are already approved for everything in the design, to go over budget for added safety features. Obviously John is coming from his standpoint as a GL (not to mention we all know he was unable to save an entire planet belonging to his GL wife) is a little more paranoid about safety. The contractors continue to argue money over precaution and he gets upset, using his ring and scaring the contractors a bit before flying off.
The comic then cuts back to sector 3599 on the planet Nerro, what appears to be a completely water based planet, with purple swimming mole like inhabitants, a giant whirl pool appears and begins sucking them in.
We are then taken to Guy and John, in there GL uniforms shooting the breeze on a satellite orbiting earth, wondering why they never took on secret identities like the other two of Earth Sectors 4 Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan, and Kyle Rayner, saying it makes it hard to have a normal life at home on Earth. John says its because they needed to stand out, both having there reasons for doing so. They determine maybe there not meant for a "normal" life, they are both soldiers and decide to head to Oa, the home planet and Sector 0 for the  Green Lanter Corps.
Here we see the "assistant" to the Guardians , and GL recorder Salak wittiness there return. Just as they arrive, Salak questioning why they are not in there sector, and Guy stating 4 Lanterns for one sector is overkill and Kyle and Hal can handle it for a while, to which Salak reminds that Hal is no longer a Green Lantern (having been discharged after the War of the Green Lanterns for killing a Guardian Krona.)  John sees in Salaks many screens that a bunch of Lanterns have died in one sector, sector 3599, They were answering a distress call on the planet Nerro and lost contact and were next noted as deceased. Salak states he was about to send another emergency patrol there as back up. Guy and John, of course offer themselves up for the job and take some other Lanterns with them. Vandor, Isamot Kol, Sheriff Maroin, Hannu and Brik, they  arrive at the planet to see it has been drained dry, all its inhabitants dead. And as if to send a message, the GL's sent to investigate, hanging dead on spears.

That is the entire plot for Green Lantern Corps issue 1.
So lets start with the character revamp.
Nothing has really changed about Guy Gardeners GL uniform. Its practically the same.

Johns if anything has stayed mostly the same as well, but the green parts have more of a metallic look to them.

Interesting way to start this off already we see, a danger to the Corps, a practically invisible enemy, until he wants you to see him. Who also seems to have no trouble at all killing the Green Lanterns, now this could just be that he catches the unawares, while most Lanterns project a field tight to there bodies to protect them from attack.
So we are left with a cliff hanger at the end. Wondering who is it killing off Lanterns? Wondering why Hal is still no longer with the Corps? How are Guy and John, going to save themselves?
I am sure that things will only continue to get more and more interesting with each new issue that is released.
I am curious as it seems that maybe John and Guy are going to be the main Lanterns featured in this series for a while.
Hal Jordan the first Lantern, was discharged and from what we know for the Green Lantern issue 1, features Sinestro (who regained his GL status during the War with Krona) as its hero. And I was unable to get that issue I may know more, but I am left to ponder, is Sinsestro fighting the good fight again? And will Hal take back his mantel of the Greatest Green Lantern?
Kyle as it appears is the head liner of a new series called Green Lantern: New Guardians, in which he appears to team up with the second in commands of the other Corps of the spectrum. Will he make appearances in Corps or is he going to continue with New Guardians for a while?
All in all if your a GL fan make sure you get this issue, obviously you will probably miss the first print (people collect them and save them for money making way way way out in the future) but second print is usually easier to find and they tend to release more of the second print anyway.
