Who I have to say is no longer wearing his red underwear on the outside of his tights! I am so proud!!
The cover almost makes Superman look evil? Hes holding the globe of the Daily Planet building, engulfed in flames, with red eyes? Why so evil Superman?
Warning will be giving a full plot synopsis of Superman issue 1.
We open with a narrative talking about the Daily Planet as the building gets demolished, and they reveal the new Daily Planet, a very modernized looking building. Even the spinning globe at the top looks shinny and new! Cause it is!!!
We are shown that a very rich man has bought out the Daily Planet and changed somethings.
We also see that Clark/Superman is not too happy about it.
Seen by Jimmy Olsen and another reporter at the seen of the Demolishing of the Daily Planet, Superman does not look happy. He then leaves to patrol the city all the while listening to the speech from the man who bought out the Daily Planet. We also see a flash back of Lois arguing with Clark about why this is good for the paper and he should not be so angry, we also learn that Lois has been given a promotion, she is the Executive Producer of P.G.N's Nightly News Division and Executive Vice President of New Media. Sounds like a fancy title.
Mean while out in the Himalayas, an Alien blows some strange horn and then disappears.
In the Astrodome, some security guards watching the news footage of the unavailing of the new Daily Planet, keep seeing some strange fire appearing and disappearing in the hallways of the building, on their security monitors.
Superman then locates a situation, some thief's have stolen a truck with hazardous and explosive chemical waste.
He chases after the truck and then lifts it after they start shooting at him, fearing a stray bullet will hit the tank and cause an explosion. The people at the Daily Planet hear about the chase and of course even though there celebrating, get on the story.
One of the guardd who saw the flame decide to go looking for it, realizing that he hasn't come back the other guard gos looking for him and gets caught in an explosion.
Meanwhile...
Superman is trying to negotiate with the thief's to arrest them without causing an explosion. He gives them to the count of three to surrender and just as he gets to three it blows up. From the Astrodome a pillar of fire erupts with a being at the top throwing fire missiles everywhere.
Superman does all that he can to try and put out the fire and stop things from catching on fire, but this fire doesn't seem to stop.
While saving people and attacking from the fire at the same time there seems to be no end to this. Finally he picks up the globe from the previous Daily Planet, throws it at the fire creature causing just enough of a diversion to tackle the fire monster and take it out to space where there is no oxygen to fuel the fire.
The fire stopped the new Daily Planet gets its scoop on the action. Clark goes to Lois' apartment to apologize and tell her he loves her, when another man appears in the door way behind her. So he leaves.
This is the end of the issue.
What was the fire creature? Who was the alien blowing the horn at the top of the Himalayas? Is Clark right about the new owner of the Daily Planet being a crook?
What will come in the future for Lois and Clark.
Next up Teen Titans.
